DENNIS HORN – Tullahoma, TN
Dennis Horn is a naturalist,
amateur botanist, and wildflower photographer.
An engineer by profession, he is now retired from a career spanning
nearly 40 years at the Air Force test center in Middle Tennessee. His interest in plants began in the 1960’s
while hiking trails in the Great Smoky Mountains. When the Tennessee Native Plant Society
(TNPS) was organized in 1978, Dennis became a charter member, and his study of
plants intensified. He served as TNPS
field trip coordinator for 12 years and has led numerous Plant Society
hikes. He is currently on the TNPS Board
of Directors and is a member of the Scientific Advisory Committee for Rare
Plants in Tennessee. Dennis believes that
protecting the habitats, where our native plants grow, is the key to their
survival. He has traveled from the
Mississippi River to the Blue Ridge Mountains studying and photographing
Tennessee wildflowers. He lives in
Tullahoma with his wife, Sherry.
