Dear Fellow Gardeners,
Another year has flown by! Come celebrate the season and fellowship at our SHGC annual Christmas pot luck. It will be held Saturday, December 13 at 10:00 a.m. It will be held at the clubhouse at Autumn Ridge subdivision. We will be having a dirty Santa gift exchange. Please bring a wrapped gift in the $10-$15 range. It is potluck, so please bring an item to share. Ann will be cooking a ham and provide coffee, tea and punch. This year's charity is the Center of Hope in Columbia. It supports victims of domestic violence. If you wish to donate, please make your checks out to the Center of Hope.
We certainly hope all of you can make it and help wrap up another great year!

2014 October Meeting

Growild's Fall Sale
Fall is a fantastic time to plant! Growild's Fall Sale is Saturday, October 18, 2014 come rain or shine. It is from 8 am - 5 pm. Everything will be 10-50% off. It is an extensive Native Plant nursery that has wildflowers, ferns, vines, grasses, shrubs and trees. If you have never been, it is quite overwhelming. They have so many plants available. It makes a great group field trip. Just leave room in the car for taking home purchases!

2014 September Meeting
The next meeting of the SHGC will Saturday, September 13 beginning at 9 am. We will be meeting at the Winchester Center. We will be doing a craft project. It is a coffee can vase. If there is time left, we will also have a Q&A Session. Items you will need to bring include: coffee can, twigs, and a glue gun. Paper and ribbon will be provided for you. 2014 August Meeting
Our next Spring Hill Garden Club meeting will be on Saturday,
August 9th, at the Winchester Community Facility. We are pleased to have
author,Rita Venable as our speaker. She is a writer, photographer, and
speaker whose much-loved subject is nature, but especially butterflies.
She will present the lecture"A Home For Butterflies".
At the end of her presentation, you have the option of purchasing her new

2014 June Meeting

A reminder about our upcoming meeting on Saturday, June 14th. We will meet at 9 a.m. at the Winchester Center. It is potluck, so please bring something to share. We are having a "Flower Show". This is a very exciting time to show off your hard work and those prized specimens. I have included the following information from Rose.

A reminder about our upcoming meeting on Saturday, June 14th. We will meet at 9 a.m. at the Winchester Center. It is potluck, so please bring something to share. We are having a "Flower Show". This is a very exciting time to show off your hard work and those prized specimens. I have included the following information from Rose.

We will not have a business meeting,
There will be one award for “Best in Show”.
Members will vote by secret ballot for “Best in Show” using the numbers on the cards.
Judging will be based on 3 “beautiful” things:
· Color
· Stem and foliage
· Condition or grooming of the plant material.
Around 1030am members will have one last opportunity to view the displays and cast their vote, then winner will be announced.
“Certificates of Appreciation” will be handed out to everyone who participated.
GUIDELINES:
All plant materials must be fresh and grown by the club member.
You can have more than one entry.
Species are flowers, miniatures, plants, ferns, and herbs.
One flower per vase (must be a clear glass vase).
All other plant material can be displayed in a container of your choice and you can double pot.
All exhibits will be labeled with scientific & common name on numbered cards provided by Rose.
There will be an Educational Exhibit table available if you want to bring rare specimens.
DEADLINES “FOR NEED TO KNOW”:
1 If you’re participating. We want to have enough “Participation Certificates” to hand out no later than Thursday, June 12th.
2 If you need cards printed no later than noon on Friday, June 13th. I will have extras cards with me.

2014 May Meeting
Our next meeting of the Spring Hill Garden Club will be Saturday, May 10th beginning at 9 a.m. Our meeting location has changed. We will not meet at our usual location, but having an on location meeting at a local farm owned by one of our members and Master Gardener, Amber Doig. Gretchen will follow up with an email to give directions out to the farm. Look forward to seeing everyone there!

2014 February Meeting
This Saturday, February 8th will be the first meeting of the year for us! We will meet at the Winchester Center at 9 a.m. Our speaker will be Sonny Clary from Monarch Landscaping.
Don't forget that club dues are now being collected. It's $10 per person or $15 for a couple.
